This is the first time I’ve been nominated for a book tag and I thank Emma at Bookish Daughters of the King for tagging me in her post.

Emma’s Questions:

1. What is your favorite Bible verse and why is it special to you? My favorite Bible verse is Isaiah 6:8: “Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then said I, here am I; send me.” I learned it as a 7th grader in our Wednesday night Joy Club (which was kind of like Awana) and it became my life verse.

2. What is your favorite movie and why? The Princess Bride because it has a little of everything. It’s hilarious and cheeky and a sweet romance with a beautiful heroine and swoony hero and it’s about passing on a beloved story from one generation to another.

3. What would you consider your hidden talent? Um, well, when I get really punchy I launch into a pretty good impression of the main character from the movie Nell. (Not a movie I highly recommend though). In fact, I’m pretty good at bad accents in general.

4. What book could you read over and over again? Jane Eyre. I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve read it.

5. What are your favorite names? I tend to like unusual names. But if God had given me a girl, I would have named her Noelle. I think it is so pretty. I adore the first names of a couple of the main characters in my story. Keller is a unique guy’s name and just sounds strong to me. And Whimsy was such a pretty word, I just had to try it out. I also love the name Asher and Josiah for guys. And Amelia and Ellie for girls.

6. What’s your favorite place on earth? Yikes! This one is really hard. I’ve lived and visited so many places that I’ve loved. Probably any place that has a sense of history. I love visiting old homes, like the Biltmore Mansion in Asheville, North Carolina. Or Grant’s home in Galena, Illinois. Or George Washington’s Mount Vernon manor in Alexandria, Virginia. So any place that feels like I’ve stepped into the past.

7. If you had a TV show or book made about you, what would the title be? Haha. The only thing I can think of is: Blunders and Blessings. I’ve made so many mistakes in my life but God has been good to me despite that. I have no complaints. I lead a very blessed life.

8. Who is your top favorite author? My top favorite Christian fiction author is Laura Frantz. I love her main characters, her immersive historical storytelling and her atypical storylines. They’re unpredictable and not everything gets tied up in a big bow at the end, which feels like real life to me.

9. Do you consider yourself an introvert or an extrovert? I’m an introvert in that I’m not a great initiator and my fear of rejection prevents me from sending friend requests or starting conversations. Even commenting on a blog of someone I’ve not made a connection with is a big first step for me. But I love talking with people, and once I’ve found common ground, it’s probably very hard to get me to be quiet again. Then the introverted side needs recharging. Peopling is a very taxing activity so I need my alone time to be able to engage again.

10. What’s your biggest goal in life? My biggest goal is to tell others about my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ in whatever avenue God gives me. Right now, that’s as a homeschool mom and in the stories God has given me to write. I don’t know what He has in store for the future.

11. What’s your favorite TV show? I usually stick to PBS Masterpiece offerings. They’re not always as free of content as I would like, but maybe better than most things I’ve found so far. Some of my favorites have been Downton Abbey, Poldark, Victoria, and new shows like Miss Scarlet and the Duke. I’m really excited for the second season of All Creatures Great and Small premiering this week and checking out the new Around the World in 80 Days. I’m still a big fan of Little House on the Prairie even though they depart from the books. And I’ve watched several seasons of When Calls the Heart and Heartland.
